Armageddon expo 2012 Hamilton review

So over the weekend I attended the first hamilton Armageddon expo. it was a great experience, and i met many amazing people who I hope to become even better friends with via the magic of the internet. i caught up with people i haven't seen for years and did some stuff that just blew my mind and sung some songs really loudly.
the con itself was pretty good. the rooms the convention was held in was very dark and crowded, which meant people with large props, costumes or, like me, giant bags, had to spend a lot of time outside, in the foyer or upstairs, which was like a giant cosplay ally. as per usual, food was pricey, and everyone was pretty hungry by the end of the day. our small homestuck/doctor who/torchwood group ended up walking to a McDonalds from the con to get food. merch was the usual, so nothing extra exciting.
the con was very busy and there was not enough room for everyone who turned up. the cosplay event were run very well and were great fun.

all in all, i think it was a fun con and i'm hella glad i went. as first cons go, hamiltons wasn't too bad.

wigs, cosplays], hopeless homestuck addiction, and a few little changes

i love wigs
just really, really love them

i have pretty long hair, so i just love wearing cute bobed (that is so a word) wigs, i feel all grown-up and cute~ i spotted a wig on gothic lolita wigs that is a short pink-blue blend curly bob. i just wana buy it and wear it all of the time~!~!~!~!~!
here's a picture~!
so cute.

Also, speaking of wigs~! i've been styling 2~! (sadly, i only have a picture of one TT^TT) they are for my rose lalonde cosplay this saturday and sunday.
consider this your first lesson in showmanship
so excited~!!! the other is a little longer and white. it has a much more "grimdark/black dress rose" feel.

so as you can probably tell, i began reading homestuck. my boyfriend was all "you should read this, its really good" and then my cosplay group began reading it, and a long time friend had been pestering me about it for 2 years so i gave it a go. now i am hopelessly adicted. (as you guessed from the title.) this made me learn to knit. so yeah, adicted to a webcomic and now i knit.
I'm hoping to gain ncea credits for this blog if i at all can. (media studys don't fail me now!)

well, this has been lizzy, saying OMG I HAVEN'T DIED AND NEATER HAS THIS BLOG

Buttons and Bows

driving down a country road with my mum, a song came on, and i almost cried. i've been going through a real lolita identity crisis, and, after a day in the frills and then a few days later, hearing this song really lifted me.

"Lets go where i'll keep on wearing those frills and flowers and buttons and bows, rings and things and buttons and bows~"
when i hear it, to me, its about a lolita from some little town (or the suburbs, like me~) wanting to go somewhere to be truly lolita.
I have rediscovered the wonder of getting all dolled up and becoming the Me i want to be.

Ducks, the coming of a new autumn, and a new blog plan.

We had 12 ducks stop off on our lawn this afternoon! it made my year! they even ate out of my hand, and stuck around for a bit for a drink and something to eat. i hope they come back, we always have ducks on our lawn over the autumn, and its always my favourite bit of the year. we had to stop a car and shepherd them across the road and most of them flew off. good luck ducky-chans, come back soon~
heres a little picture of me sitting with them, they were very friendly and came right close when i offered food. (excuse the mini-shorts. it was hot and i was just lazing around home doing school work)
the mornings are cold now, and its as if the sky is changing from the vibrancy of summer to the muted blue-gray of winter (my favourite shade of blue). its such a nice feeling.

I'm going to be trying something new with this blog. updating whenever i want to share something, and treating it like a journal. i hope you enjoy the new approach.

Feeling the love for casual lolita

as a lifestyle lolita, i wear lolita all the time, and casual is my go-to style for day to day. it doesn't matter if my peti (a pinned up long skirt) has deflated over a few days, or my best blouse isn't clean and i have to wear a cutsew. i can wear it for school, work, and shopping. here a little info about this cuter style
casual lolita doesn't have such pressure for petticoats, you only need one or 2 deflated ones.
blouses can be swapped out for cute cutsews. i find i look better is cutsews.
angelic pretty is a  good inspiration. some of their new stuff is quite casual, with a definite fairy-kei style.
if your a gothic girl, this is a great chance to break out the bats and add a cute gothic looking t-shirt or coffin backpack.
classic girls can go for browns, maybe with a mori-girl vibe.
in short, casual lolita is a lot of fun

Gomenasai! also, outfit photo fun. dear lord i don't take any photos.

good golly i've been neglecting this blog. please say you'll forgive me! oh, you will? oh thank you!
This counts towards on of my school subjects so i will have to keep up the updates~
well, as this is a fashion blog, i might as well share a bit of my own style.
i wore this to the Christmas parade.

This was my hatsune miku cosplay for the auckland cosplay picnic. the wig was a lot better quality than it looks here lol.
I love mixing things (i always have something mori-girl in all my outfits.) and i'm always changing the way i wear lolita. i promise a better update next week, (or later today. its very early) of a new experimental co-ords. stay tunned darlings!

lolita and conventions.

as in october i attended my first con as a lolita (i was aso cosplaying) i desided to put this post up.

what you will need:

a water bottle. metal ones keep their cool but the condensation will make bags wet, so wrap it in a plastic bag or something waterproof.

a small sewing kit. safty pins, and neadles threaded with black, white and the main colour of your outfit, some small sizzors

a fold-up umbrella. if the sun is pouring down on you, you will need a parasol and if it suddenly rains you don't want to get soaked and have to change huredly.

makeup. whatever you wear normaly + some extra consealer and deoderant.

a brush, comb and hair pinns. hair emergancys are better avoided. luckly i could borrow a (nice and clean) brush of someone i met their but i don't advise it.

snacks. packets of chips and crackers as well as meusli bars are perfect. DO NOT BUY CONVENTION FOOD. its way overpriced, and not worth buying.

at least one large bag for merch. one your can fold up would be perfect.

so this has been what you desperatly need to put in your handbag for con.
love,
Lizzy~
